The first-of-its-kind project in India is going to be reality soon and that is nothing but India's first Floating Solar Power Station in the pond of Victoria Memorial, Kolkata for which Rs. 32 lacs have already been sanctioned by the ministry of new and renewable energy.
If the project becomes a success, the problem of searching land for solar power stations will be solved to a great extent. Till now in Asia only Japan is forerunner in such technology.
As per SP Gon Choudhury, an international expert in solar energy this prototype will be commissioned by 2014 and would generate 10 KW of power which would require an area of around 100 sq metres. read more...
